A thought on the Putin/Trump political "base"

This Trump-Putin political base -- forget their nationalities/irrationalities -- is based on resentment. It's the anger of laudable, ordinary people (the hoi polloi?) who feel they've been ripped off.

They want a strong leader to "set things straight."

But is not part of the problem that the "strong leaders"-- (Putin, Trump) -- are "the system's" (ok, whatever that may be; pls. let me know if you've got a clear answer ) no. 1 servants/sleazeballs?
